Through innovation, productivity and sustainable growth strategies, this business has been transformed into one of the UK’s largest privately owned construction, infrastructure and support services groups.

“More than 50 years ago, I started a small joinery business in Elgin in the North East of Scotland. As the years moved on, I wanted to create a multitrades business that would service the area around my home town. Now, with a comprehensive range of business units, more than 2,600 employees, and offices from Inverness to Sheffield – you can safely say we have succeeded in this… and then some. The geography we cover is much wider than I could ever have imagined when I set up the business aged 21. This is a fantastic achievement that wouldn’t have been possible without our loyal employees new and old, and our excellent relationships with clients”

1969

First houses built for sale.

1975

First major design and build contract.

1976

Acquisition of Elgin Precast.

1986

Elgin Timber Products began trading.

1989

Acquisition of Doric Construction (Aberdeen).

1992

Fastest growing Scottish company.

1996

Major restructure to boost geographical coverage.

 

1998

Robertson Facilities Management formed.

1999

First project in England.

2002

Robertson Capital projects formed.

2007

Company employs 1000th staff member.

2011

Robertson consortium appointed to Scottish Futures Trust’s hub East Central framework.

2012

Robertson Civil Engineering and Robertson Engineering services formed.

2015

Partnership Homes and Specialist Division founded. Third office in England opened.

2016/17

We celebrate our 50th year of trading and we employ our 2,000th employee.
